Creating Plone Content Types with Dexterity

Training details

Language: English
Level: Advanced
Summary:

Creating new content types in Plone is easier than ever. Dexterity, Plone's new content-type development framework, allows you to create content types through-the-web, in add-on packages, or even to move back and forth between the two. Dexterity is built into Plone 4.3+, but is also ready to use in Plone 4.0-4.2. This course will focus on practical use of Dexterity, with just enough theory and history to help students understand how Dexterity fits into Plone.

Prerequisites

Each student should have a copy of Plone 4.3.x installed on their laptop. They should confirm in advance that they can run both Plone and buildout on it. Windows users may wish to use plonedev.vagrant to set up their development environment in a virtual box.

If students are unfamiliar or out of practice with the command line, they should practice in advance to make sure they know how to navigate and run programs from their operating system's command line.
